Wedding Wednesdays Q&A: With Coronavirus, Is It a Bad Time to Get Engaged?

Q: I was planning on proposing to my partner soon and then, Coronavirus hit. Our life has changed so much over the last few weeks. But it’s made me realize even more than before, how much I want to get married. I want to propose, but is it bad time to do so? With everything going on with Coronavirus, it seems like a bad time to get engaged and start planning a wedding. What do you think?
I understand completely. Coronavirus has changed all our lives. And I know it can seem like a bad time to get engaged.
A lot of people’s jobs and incomes are in limbo or just gone. So the financial side can be stressful.
And it is different to plan a wedding during these Coronavirus times because of all the uncertainty.
Not to mention that if you had grand plans for the proposal and now aren’t allowed to leave your house… it can change the moment you were trying to create.
Because a proposal at the grocery store is probably not what you had in mind (although you’d get a lot of mask faced cheers!).

But, despite all of that, there isn’t a better time to get engaged than RIGHT NOW.
There is so much uncertainty and fear. People are sick and dying all over the world. Businesses have closed. And no one knows what will happen.
But, if anything, Coronavirus has put into clear focus what’s important.
And what’s important are people.
The people you love.
Finding someone who gets you and loves you and who you love in return, is a special thing.
Choosing to spend your life with them is also a special thing. So, don’t wait!
If you want to propose now, do it. There is no better time to ask the person you love to spend your lives together.
This is the time to do it.
Because nobody knows what will happen tomorrow or a month from now or 6 months from now.
Don’t wait for the perfect proposal or the right circumstances.
Propose now and you’ll be so happy you did.

Now when it comes to planning your wedding, should you be planning now?
Yes, definitely! You don’t need to wait.
Just like how sharing your love is important, so is celebrating it. And after all of this, we will definitely want to celebrate.
How you plan your wedding will be a little different in these Coronavirus times. But, venues are still “open” and available, as are wedding vendors.
And to help you with the planning of your wedding, we have two special videos coming up on Youtube that will walk you through how to plan your wedding during these uncertain times.

Because things are definitely strange and scary right now. And with all the Coronavirus uncertainty, it can seem like a bad time to get engaged and plan a wedding.
But, nothing could be farther from the truth.
Sharing your love right now is so important, both for you and your partner. It’s a joy we all could use right now.
But, what comes next? First, propose! And celebrate! And then make sure you check out and subscribe to our Youtube channel for what you need to think about next.
